Support Worker (MDSP)

MSC is seeking to employ experienced and committed Support Workers (SW) to work in our Multicultural Disability Services Program (MDSP):

What you’ll be doing:

• providing in home support including preparation of meals, cleaning, personal care and more;
• assisting with participating in community activities/events of their interests;
• ensuring that the consumer’s dream, goals and abilities are promoted, developed and achieved;
• providing safe transport support to enable service users to access community and social activities;

• facilitating the development and maintenance of relationships with family, friends and service providers; and
• providing mentoring support.

We are looking for people that: 

• can build a positive supportive relationship with the consumer;
• are committed to a person-centred approach in their work;
• are passionate about supporting people; and
• can speak multiple languages with a current need of Bosnian/Serbian, Karen/Burmese, Vietnamese and Auslan

Things that matter to us:

• certificate in individualised support (highly desirable);
• previous experience working in disability sector (highly desirable);
• ability to engage and work from a respective framework for people/families supported;
• an understanding and/or experience of the needs of people from CaLD backgrounds;
• valid WA driver’s license and a reliable private vehicle;
• hold COVID-19 vaccination certificate;
• hold or prepared to obtain an NDIS check; and
• ability to work independently and show initiative.
