Settlement Services (SETS)

General Settlement Services

The purpose of SETS client services is to equip humanitarian and other vulnerable migrants in their first five years in Australia with the knowledge and skills to address their settlement needs.

Clients’ needs are addressed through casework and group sessions that align with the ten priority areas identified in the National Settlement Framework:

  1. Education & Training;
  2. Employment;
  3. Health & Wellbeing;
  4. Housing;
  5. Language Services;
  6. Transport;
  7. Civic Participation;
  8. Family & Social Support;
  9. Justice; and
  10. Financial Wellbeing.

The focus is on social participation, economic well-being, independence, personal well-being and community connectedness.

SETS Youth Program

Youth specific services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing flexible education and/or employment support options to meet the varying needs of those who experience disruption to schooling.
  • Providing opportunities or support to young people to access volunteering opportunities, internships or work experience, to improve their employability.
  • Working with young people to think about and articulate their goals for the future.
  • Supporting family members to understand and support a young person’s goals and pathways, including understanding the Australian education and employment system.
  • SETS Youth program is offering: Homework Hut program, After School Program, Life Skills and School Holiday Activities.
